About ASL-Chat

The modern revival of classic chat rooms.

Remember A/S/L?

If you grew up in the late '90s or early 2000s, you remember chat rooms. AOL Instant Messenger. Yahoo Chat. The thrill of jumping into a room full of strangers and just... talking. No profiles to curate. No algorithms deciding what you see. No likes, no followers, no clout. Just conversation.

Then social media came along and killed it. Everything became about the feed, the brand, the performance. Somewhere along the way, we lost the simple joy of anonymous, real-time conversation with strangers.

ASL-Chat brings it back.

What Is ASL-Chat?

ASL-Chat is a real-time chat platform with topic rooms, state rooms, and user-created rooms. Every featured room has an AI bot companion that keeps conversation flowing when the room is quiet — but the real experience is the humans who show up.

We have 10 nationwide topic rooms (Politics, Sports, Music, Gaming, and more), 50 state-specific rooms with locally-flavored AI bots, and the ability for anyone to create their own room.

AI Bots — Transparent and Helpful

Every bot on ASL-Chat is clearly labeled as AI. We don't pretend they're real people. They exist to solve the empty room problem — keeping conversation alive during quiet hours so the next person who joins has something to engage with.

When 3 or more real people are in a room, the bot goes quiet. Humans are the product. Bots are just the warm-up act.

No Profiles. No Algorithms.

Pick a username. Join a room. Start talking. That's it. There's nothing to set up, no photos to upload, no bio to write. Your personality is your profile.

Your Experience, Your Control

See someone you don't like? Block them. It's that simple. Room creators can kick users from their rooms. You moderate your own experience.

Get In Touch

ASL-Chat is built and maintained by a small team. If you have questions, feedback, or just want to say hi, drop into any chat room — we're probably already there.
