What We Collect

ASL-Chat collects minimal data to operate the platform:

• Username: The display name you choose when entering chat. Stored in your browser's local storage only.
• Session data: Basic connection information (IP address, user agent) for analytics and anti-abuse purposes.
• Chat messages: Messages are held temporarily in server memory for active chat sessions. Messages are not permanently stored.

What We Don't Collect

• We do not require email addresses or real names.
• We do not create user profiles or accounts.
• We do not sell any user data to third parties.
• We do not use tracking cookies for advertising purposes.

Analytics

We use server-side analytics to understand platform usage patterns (visitor counts, popular rooms, session duration). This data is aggregated and not linked to individual users. Analytics data is automatically deleted after 90 days.

Chat Messages

Chat messages exist in server memory during active sessions. Room history is limited to the most recent messages and is not permanently stored in a database. When you leave a room, your messages remain visible to other users currently in the room but are not archived.

AI Bots

AI bot responses are generated using third-party AI services. Recent chat messages in a room are sent to the AI service as context for generating responses. No personal identifying information is included in these requests.

Cookies and Local Storage

ASL-Chat uses browser local storage to remember your username and age verification status. No third-party tracking cookies are used.

Data Retention

Session analytics data is retained for 90 days and then automatically deleted. Chat messages are ephemeral and not permanently stored. User-created rooms expire 24 hours after the last message.

Children's Privacy

ASL-Chat is intended for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. An age verification gate is presented before accessing chat features.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
